Linking Storm Drains to Wildlife Habitat

Did you know that what goes down a storm drain goes directly into rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, and the ocean? Not everyone does. The Drain Campaign makes this clear by using stenciled pithy statements and footprints of the wildlife that depends upon clean water at the other end of the drain. I’ve designed a “Name that Animal Track” contest for elementary students so they can learn to identify all the animals that share their neighborhoods. Perfect for environmental clubs, conservation commissions, and public works departments, this project can engage the whole community.
